BenchMark of Torrington, P.C., a small (8-10 employees) Surveying & Engineering firm located in Torrington, Wyoming, is looking for motivated staff members to join our team!

We are a small, busy firm involved in many types of engineering and surveying projects. We offer a great work environment with a combination of both office and field work, opportunity for advancement, and fully reimbursed continuing education. Our positions are not available for remote employment, but overnight travel is rare. A valid Driver’s License is required for any position.

Survey Crew Chief / Office Technician

Responsibilities

​

  • The crew chief will participate in, and eventually be responsible for, projects from start to finish.

  • The knowledge and experience to efficiently perform the following survey tasks:

    • Boundary Surveys

    • Control Surveys

    • Topographic Surveys

    • Ground Support for Aerial Surveys

    • Design Data Collection Surveys

    • Construction Staking

    • ALTA Surveys

  • Plans for field surveys

  • Researches previous survey documents and other records to obtain data needed for surveys;

  • Oversees field survey process;

  • Captures accurate daily notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed;

  • Assists with developing survey schedule;

  • Maintains survey equipment, vehicles, batteries, and consumables inventory in storage and in vehicles;

  • Assists with planning methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control;

  • Works directly with clients and outside project participants on projects as directed;

  • Directs and supervises work of team members and survey crew;

  • Evaluates efficiency of field practices, and develops tools and practices for more efficient field work.

Preferred Qualifications

​

  • 3 years of experience in surveying;

  • Ability to schedule and prioritize multiple survey tasks and projects;

  • Ability to operate GPS, Total Stations, and other survey equipment;

  • Ability to work under and respond to stressful situations;

  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.

Survey Technician

Responsibilities

  • Ideally our technicians grow to supervise and/or perform all office and field aspects of a project, varying according to the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

  • This position requires occasional vigorous/strenuous field work with heavy lifting.

  • Technicians will be involved in a variety of field projects, including:

GIS Technician

Responsibilities

​

Our office has seen an increased need for someone experienced in GIS. This person will be responsible for coordinating with Goshen County's GIS consultant and incorporating geographic data into new and existing systems in our office.​

​

When not occupied with GIS-related work, this person may be expected to fill in on a survey crew or perform other office tasks such as records research or CAD drafting.

Preferred Qualifications

​

  • Associates Degree or other certification (Tech school, ESRI training) in GIS;

  • 1 year of experience in GIS;

  • Ability to schedule and prioritize multiple survey tasks and projects;

  • Ability to operate GPS, Total Stations, and other survey equipment;

  • Ability to work under and respond to stressful situations;

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility;

Entry-level Civil Engineer / Engineering Technician

We work on all types of Civil Engineering projects, including sewer and water projects, street and road projects, and site design. We provide design engineering services as well as construction administration and supervision. Our workload includes water rights projects. An engineer in our office is afforded the opportunity to work on all types of Civil projects.

Responsibilities

​

  • Work with clients to determine scope of services of projects;

  • Assists survey crew with planning data collection, and may have the opportunity to assist the crew in the field; 

  • Perform design of all types of Civil projects with oversight and assistance from a Professional Engineer;

  • Draft plans and specifications for construction under the supervision of the Engineer;

  • Assist with bidding of projects;

  • Construction supervision and administration;

  • Research of County and State records as needed to complete a project;

  • Draft water rights maps.

Preferred Qualifications

​

  • Some college education in either engineering or surveying;

  • EIT registration preferred but not required;

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • EIT or P.E. registration in Wyoming, with the ability to be licensed within one year;

  • At least 2 - 4 years' experience;
